Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus

Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus
The Red Death

The Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus is a type of dragon. These "preposterously huge" fire-breathing Sea Dragons are twenty times the size of a blue whale, and are very dangerous -- they kill for sport.
Sea Dragons are blue with an orange underside. They have very primitive, dinosaur-like characteristics, with heads that resemble a Tyrannosaur's, narrow sharp teeth, small frills similar to those of Triceratops, thick pillar-like legs like those of Sauropods, and a clubbed tail similar to that of Ankylosaurus. They have red spikes from the back of the neck to the tail and wings with a single membrane. They also have gigantic legs with red spikes on them and five claws on the ends. Sea Dragons are the biggest dragon species ever seen, and they can crush a whole Viking house easily.

"His stench is so strong that who ever gets to close becomes sick immediately, and while the poor victim is choking on his own vomit - the Regurgitator grabs him and starts to suckle until his prey is suffocated. Toothless - like an old mans mouth - the regurgitator then uses his strong muscles in his throat to crush the bones and swallow the whole body down to his stomach-only to puke everything out and start the whole thing over again. This regurgitating can go on for some days..... okay, okay i better stop writing.... i think everybody got the idea... going to put a warning on this one .... might be too gross for some people .."

Marsha The Queen of The Marsh

Marsha The Queen of The Marsh
by Hauke Vagt

She is a slug-girl living in the Great Marshes in the world of Felarya. I tried to represent that she is really huge and also a bit shy, because she thinks she is not very pretty with her plain brown slug-hide. Other slug-girls are more beautiful, with pretty patterns and eye-catching colorations. Although quite large, there are still a few slug-girls around who are even bigger - none, however, are near her territory.

In this scene, a small group of adventurers has encountered Marsha. Apparently, they are quite knowledgeable about her area of the swamp, so the leader is attempting to explain to Marsha the group's intentions. Unlike many large predators in Felarya, Marsha can be approached in relative safety, as long as you know what to say and what to avoid saying.

Bloody, Buggery, Curly-Headed Bloodsucker of Portsmouth

Bloody, Buggery, Curly-Headed Bloodsuckers
Aquatic horror of Portsmouth
by Hauke Vagt

Creature Description: Bloody, Buggery, Curly-Headed Bloodsuckers of Portsmouth-- In 1527, King Henry VIII constructed Southsea Castle in Portsmouth, England. Henry had built the castle with moneys from the dissolution of the monasteries of England, following his break with the Catholic Church. During the construction of Southsea Castle, and unbeknownst to Henry and his court, a terrific nest of undead, aquatic horrors were awoken and stirred. They would lie dormant in the sludge and waters off Southsea Castle for another 18 years, gathering strength by feeding off the offal of the sea, having slumbered beneath the new foundation of Southsea Castle for centuries. On October the 31st, 1545, Henry would return to Southsea to admire his naval ships in advance of an attack he had planned against the French Naval Fleet. During a dinner at the castle, when the full moon had reached its peak in the sky Henry and his court witnessed a horror unlike any in recorded history. Around the shores of Southsea Castle a great, roiling school of sea monsters broke the surface of the water, swam out en masse to Henry's vice-flagship, the Mary Rose, boarded it, razed the ship, killed all 500 sailors and crew on board, and sank the Mary Rose into the sea. The creatures disappeared into the sea and were never seen again. Bodies recovered from the massacre revealed vampire-like bite marks on each of the victims around the necks, armpits and ankles. Descriptions of the creatures appearance varied greatly, but most described them as vaguely human-sized and gaunt, with shiny, pale, hideous skin, and each bore a great, voluminous, curly mane of dark, oily hair. Some witnesses described them as 'fish-men'. Others thought they looked more serpentine with limbs. Upon realizing the extent of the massacre the creatures had caused to his Navy, Henry was said to have exclaimed "Bloody, buggery, curly-headed bloodsuckers!!" Although few in Henry's court would speak of their belief openly, many viewed this unspeakable attack as God's vengence for the dissolution of the Catholic monasteries and the use of the funds garnished from said dissolution in building Southsea Castle.

Tanker (Skyline)

Tankers from the movie Skyline

Tankers are giant crab-frog like creatures with multiple eyes and 8 brains for "power". Instead of hypnotising prey with blue lights, they have clingy tentacles which they use to hunt. They walk/run on four legs and are olive green in color. They are incredibly strong but their skin is flammable.

Carnictis sordicus (vile meat-weasel)

Carnictis Sordicus from the movie
King Kong (2006)

Carnictis sordicus (vile meat-weasel) is a huge wormlike creature that lives in the abyssal chasms of Skull Island. They can be 7-13 feet long.
"Writhing, serpentine, vermicular predators of the tepid sludge that suffocated the depths of the chasms, they are feeders on the dead and wounded. Carnictises are slow-moving but relentless. Lacking eyes or a face of any sort, they are little more than an animated stomach that folds in and out of itself with obscene undulation.

Intestinal parasites similar to the tapeworms that can infest humans, the ancestors of Carnictis lived in the guts of large predatory dinosaurs, where they devoured the half-digested flesh swallowed by their hosts. At some point in their history, these gut parasites must have evolved so that they could survive outside the confines of their hosts' intestinal tracts. They made their new homes in the geothermal spring-fed sludge that clotted the bowls of the island. It is theorized that long ago, a V. rex-like predator fell into one of the chasms and died, its parasite cargo disgorging slowly from the carcass to find themselves in the rich organic river in the pit's base. Instead of drying up and dying, they thrived. Warmed by the hot, geothermal water bubbling into the syrup of the pits, the worms were sustained on the flesh of animals falling into the chasm from the jungle above. Parasites no longer, they swelled to disturbing new proportions and became carrion eaters in the abyss. With their new size and strength, they could overwhelm and consume live prey, dragging the slow or wounded to their deaths below the surface.
Requiring very specific environmental conditions, Carnictises are restricted to a few cavernous rents and sinkholes that suited their particular needs. Squirming downstream through the muck to where the chasms open into rivers is death. The cooling water sucks their lives away, while any pit that saw a drought of carrion or fresh meat would similarly devastate the Meat-weasel.
However, Carnictis developed a survival strategy. While the adults are susceptible to change, eggs can survive for decades in a dormant state, waiting for a return of favourable conditions to hatch and spread."  (source)

Thresher Maw (Mass Effect)

Thresher Maw
from Mass Effect universe

Thresher Maws are subterranean carnivores that spend their entire lives eating or searching for something to eat. They are enormous, violent creatures that burst up from the ground without warning when disturbed.
They reproduce via spores that lie dormant for millennia, yet are robust enough to survive prolonged periods in deep space and atmospheric re-entry. As a result, thresher maw spores appear on many worlds, spread by previous generations of space travelers.

Thresher maws are solitary creatures; two or three at most can be found on a single planet. They live alone in nests spanning large areas underground. They can grow to be in excess of 30 metres tall above the ground, with a body nearly twice that size beneath the surface. The body of an adult thresher maw never entirely leaves the ground; only the head and tentacles erupt from the earth to attack.
Aggressive and highly territorial, thresher maws feed by absorbing huge amounts of solar radiation and survive best on planets, asteroids or moons with little or no atmosphere. They also consume minerals and ores from the ground itself and use an odd form of photosynthesis to combine solar radiation and minerals into energy they can use to fuel their significant mass.
Due to their size, and their burrowing style of movement, thresher maws are immobile above ground, but can move incredibly quickly below. They can take a lot of damage and can be very hard to kill. Their attacks consist of spitting powerful viscous acid that splashes on contact, burrowing up from beneath their prey, and smashing with their claws in close range while emitting infrasound. Due to the nature of their attacks, they completely ignore shields. (source)
